Our Story
The Honeymoon Catastrophe That Sparked a Lifetime of Adventure
Katie, the love of my life, and I went to Alaska, dreaming of the perfect mix of romance and adventure for our honeymoon. At least let me start with this, we did each catch the largest halibut of our lives, which was little consolation for the high seas with biting winds. The 9 foot swells and chop on the water resulted in Katie’s seasickness with only a white painters bucket for a toilet. The catastrophe continued that night, when we checked in at the fishing lodge. We entered the room to find twin beds bolted to the floor, leaving us separated on what was supposed to be the most romantic night of our lives. It wasn’t what we imagined, but it was an experience we’d never forget.
That honeymoon disaster pushed me to rethink how I planned our trips, ensuring our future fishing adventures were unforgettable—for all the right reasons. And that there were future adventures with my wife. 😉
